Who we are
Our mission is to help decrease the number of wild horses in BLM holding facilities through successful adoptions or permanent residency at the refuge. The refuge also strives to help educate the public on the Mustang breed and increase awareness of the plight of these horses in the United States.
Our vision is there is no longer a surplus of wild mustangs sitting in government holding facilities for extended periods of time.
The Rocky Mountain Mustang Refuge is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2018, but it wasn’t until 2021 that it welcomed its first herd of horses. The founders of the refuge purchased a large ranch and wanted to do something meaningful with the land. They stumbled upon the Wild Mustangs of America and wanted to help make a difference for the 60,000+ Mustangs sitting in holding facilities, even if only a small difference.
Mustangs that have been removed from public land still depend on your support for care and feed. Because we are a charitable organization, your tax deductible contributions enable us to fulfill our mission. Your financial support is greatly appreciated. We are continuing plans to develop, improve, and expand our facility.
We give thanks to our host, Heritage Ranch of the Rockies, and special thanks to all who have worked so hard to make this a reality. We encourage you to stay connected on social media, to share with friends and help fulfill our mission. In the process, we hope you can discover with us exactly how "Wild Horses Can Change Lives Forever".
